September 16, 2025, Welcome Picnic! If you wish to participate, please bring a main dish or salad if your last name begins with A-K. Please bring a dessert or fruit if your last name begins with L-Z. Program: "Members' Show and Tell" Speakers: Members are encouraged to share a garden tip, plant information, garden advice, tool, etc. Just a short "Did you know? " would be fine. We know a lot, so let's share our knowledge!

October 15, 2025,--Program: "Mum's the Word" is presented by Amber Bahn a production manager at Ashcombe Gardens who grows thousands of mums and will explain the process of growing them and how to take care of them once you get them home. She will bring some examples, which will be raffled off.
November 18, 2025,--"Fall is in the Air! Succulent and Pumpkin Workshop." Speaker: Diane Cornman from Lavender and Locks Flower Farm has over ten years' experience in flower farming and design. We will create a very long-lasting fall decor piece with local succulents, dried flowers from Lavender and Locks Flower Farm , and local pumpkins. The cost will be $30 per participant. It will be a fun time while creating a beautiful local-based piece you can enjoy for months.
December 16, 2025, Holiday Luncheon--"Unconventional and Vintage Holiday Designs" presented by Chuck Chatham. who has worked for decades in the floral industry. He will entertain us as he demonstrates 6-7 arrangements geared toward the holidays. He uses flower and containers in unconventional and unexpected ways. His presentation style is a fun loving, interactive one with a flair for quirky humor. The luncheon will be held at the Grand Pavilion of the Hershey Country Club . Contact Anita McCarthy to reserve a seat. Make Checks payable to Garden Club of Harrisburg and mail to Anita McCarthy, 4006 N.6th Street, Harrisburg ,PA 17110-1607 to make your reservation.
January 20, 2026,- -Program "Creating a UBO or Urban Bird Oasis." Speaker: Ember Jandebuer, our president, is a Master Gardener. She will explain how she chose plants for her property--which are natives, hosts, and whether they are accomplishing her goals. February 17, 2026,-- "Qigoing for Gardeners." Speaker: Linda d'Agostino, Hershey Horticulture member, registered nurse, licensed acupuncturist, and Qigong practitioner in addition to being a dedicated gardener she will lead us in her very popular workshop on introductory Qigong--an ancient modality that coordinates the breath, body, and posture. Linda will focus on techniques that will calm the mind and bring focus and energy to enhance gardening and other activities to help us prepare for spring.
March 17, 2026,-- "Quirky Plants" presented by Pat McCann a botanist at Hershey Zoo America. He will take us on a brief light look at a few of the world's plants ranging from fossils to common plants we see every day. Topics will include plant identification, function, pollination, seed dispersal. and geographical adaptation. Come with your plant puzzles and be ready to be entertained!
April 21, 2026--"Gardening and Flower Arranging in the Future" Speaker: Cynthia Hogeman , a Master Gardener and the head of the Five Senses Garden in Harrisburg. She is an advcoate of native plants.
Sunday, May 3, 2026--Our Annual Plant Sale will be held in the Carriage House at the Ft Hunter Garden Faire , 5300 N Front St.. Harrisburg, PA, from 10 am to 4 pm. We will be selling modestly priced native pollinators and other plants. including columbine red and blue, calendula, bachelor buttons, Maltese cross, silenes, baptisia or false indigo, Mexican sunflower or tithonia, bea balm, and others. Priced low enough to buy several for your yard! May 19, 2026--May luncheon--- "Spring into Action" by Chris Leskosky , a past president of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania, a Master Flower Show Judge, and has serve in many capacities on the GCFP Board. She has performed many design programs for garden clubs and other organizations . Her designs have been featured in the NGC Vision of Beauty calendar 15 times. She will delight us with beautiful arrangements for lucky winners to take home. The LUNCHEON WILL BE HELD AT THE COUNTRY CLUB OF HARRISBURG, 401 Fishing Creek Valley Road, Harrisburg, PA The cost for the luncheon will be announced. The deadline for reservations is May 5 to reserve a seat Contact Anita McCarthy .
